Alpha: Fear-Based Campaign case study
Challenge

An Ageing Audience

Alpha is a 60-year-old brand renowned for its iconic safes. While their reputation with an older generation was well established, they were concerned that their primary audience was ageing, and they wanted to connect meaningfully with a younger, upper-end adult demographic. They came to us looking for a campaign idea that could bridge that gap.

Approach

An Unconventional Idea

We proposed something unconventional for the Sri Lankan market: a fear-based video campaign built around three real-life scenarios, designed to jolt viewers into recognising a risk they had not considered and spur them into action. We scripted three distinct scenarios, each grounded in a relatable, modern vulnerability.

The Work

Earning The Client's Trust

The client was initially cautious, as fear-based advertising was unconventional in Sri Lanka and Alpha was protective of a brand built over six decades. We worked through their concerns carefully, presenting each scenario in enough detail that the client could see exactly how it would land. The campaign ran across Facebook, Instagram, and digital out-of-home ad spots.

Outcome

Safe Sales Surged

Within days of launch, safe sales surged. The campaign connected exactly as intended, creating a felt sense of risk in the target audience and positioning Alpha's products as the obvious resolution. It became a reference point for what bold, insight-driven creative could achieve for a heritage brand.
